Neck pain & tech neck
Screens pull the head forward and the neck and upper back pay for it. We release the strain and reset the posture that keeps causing it.
Chiropractic adjustment combined with targeted exercise is one of the most effective conservative treatments for mechanical neck pain and “tech neck.” Most neck pain we see comes from the load of forward-head posture: hours over a keyboard strain the joints and muscles of the neck and upper back, causing stiffness, knots between the shoulder blades and headaches. Acute stiffness often eases within a few visits; posture-driven pain improves as the underlying pattern is corrected.
Because the cause is usually mechanical and habitual, the fix is too: release what’s tight, restore the joints that have stopped moving well, and retrain the posture so it stops coming back.
Common causes we see
- Forward-head posture from phones and monitors
- A workstation that isn’t set up for your body
- Stress that lives in the neck and shoulders
- Sleeping position and pillow height
- Past whiplash or neck injuries
How we treat it
Care usually combines precise adjustment to free up stiff neck joints, soft-tissue and massage therapy for the muscles along the neck and upper back, and supportive therapies to settle inflammation. We’ll also look at how you sit and sleep, because that’s where the strain is coming from.
Finally, a few simple exercises and ergonomic tweaks help hold the gains — so you’re not back in the same spot in a month.
Can chiropractic fix tech neck?
Chiropractic care can relieve the pain and stiffness of tech neck and, paired with posture and ergonomic changes, address the root cause. The lasting fix combines in-office care with small daily habit changes we’ll coach you through.
Why does my neck pain cause headaches?
Tight muscles and irritated joints at the base of the skull can refer pain into the head — these are called cervicogenic (neck-driven) headaches. Treating the neck often relieves the headaches.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on how severe your condition is and how long you've had it. After your exam, the doctor explains exactly what they found and lays out a clear plan — including how many visits to expect — before any treatment begins. Many patients notice meaningful improvement within the first few visits.
Is chiropractic care safe for neck pain?
For most people, yes. Every new patient starts with a thorough history and exam so we can rule out anything that needs medical attention first. We tailor techniques to your comfort, use gentler approaches when appropriate, and refer you to the right provider if chiropractic isn't the best fit.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
Often, yes. We keep room in the schedule for same-day visits Monday through Friday, 9am–6pm. Call 858-455-7654 and we'll do our best to see you today — or request a time online and we'll confirm by phone.
