Scoliosis & spinal curvature
A curve in the spine doesn’t have to mean living with pain and stiffness. Conservative care can ease the discomfort, keep you mobile and help you stay strong and active.
Chiropractic care doesn’t straighten a scoliotic curve — but it reliably helps with what the curve causes: pain, stiffness, muscle fatigue and restricted motion. Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine, monitored in adolescence and, in adults, either long-standing or developing as the spine changes with age. Conservative care keeps you mobile, strong and comfortable, and we track curves over time and refer to a specialist when a curve needs more than conservative management.
We’re direct about this: chiropractic care doesn’t straighten an established curve. What it can do — and do well — is manage the symptoms that come with scoliosis. The muscle imbalance, joint stiffness and uneven loading of a curved spine are exactly the kinds of things hands-on care helps, so you feel and move better even though the curve itself remains.
What scoliosis care with us looks like
- A careful exam to understand your curve, mobility and pain pattern
- Gentle adjustment and mobilization adapted to your spine
- Soft-tissue work for the overworked muscles along the curve
- Strengthening and stretching to support the spine and stay active
- Referral for imaging or specialist care when a curve warrants it
Our honest approach
We won’t promise to “correct” your scoliosis, and we’ll never lock you into an open-ended treatment plan built on that claim. Our goal is practical: less pain, better movement, and a body that’s strong enough to do what you want to do. For teens and larger or changing curves, we coordinate with the appropriate specialist so you have the right level of oversight.
Can a chiropractor cure scoliosis?
No one — chiropractor or otherwise — can straighten an established scoliotic curve without surgery, and we won’t promise that. What conservative chiropractic care can do is reduce the pain, stiffness and muscle imbalance that come with the curve, improve mobility, and help you stay active and comfortable. We’re honest about what’s realistic for your curve after we examine you.
Is chiropractic safe for scoliosis?
For most people with scoliosis, gentle, well-chosen chiropractic and soft-tissue care is safe and comfortable. We examine carefully first, adapt our techniques to your curve, and refer for imaging or a specialist opinion when the situation calls for it.
My teenager was told they have scoliosis — should they be seen?
Adolescent scoliosis should be monitored, and significant or progressing curves are managed by a specialist, sometimes with bracing. We’re glad to evaluate, help with related pain and posture, and coordinate a referral if a curve needs specialist oversight.
Will scoliosis get worse if I don’t treat it?
It varies. Many adult curves are stable, while others slowly change over years. Staying strong, mobile and active is one of the best things you can do, and that’s a lot of what our care focuses on. We’ll give you an honest read on your situation and a plan to stay ahead of it.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
Often, yes. We keep room in the schedule for same-day visits Monday through Friday, 9am–6pm. Call 858-455-7654 and we'll do our best to see you today — or request a time online and we'll confirm by phone.
