Sports & active-life injuries
From runner’s knee to a tweaked shoulder, we treat the injury and the movement pattern behind it — so you get back to training and stay there.
Sports injuries respond best to care that treats both the injured tissue and the movement pattern behind it — which is why our sports-trained doctors combine Active Release Techniques (ART), chiropractic adjustment and rehab exercise in the same visit. Shoulders, hips, knees and ankles take the most load, along with repetitive-strain injuries that build over thousands of identical motions. Most athletes keep training during care with smart modifications rather than full rest.
The goal isn’t just to calm the current flare-up; it’s to find the restriction or imbalance that caused it, so it doesn’t keep coming back.
Common causes we see
- Repetitive-use strains and overtraining
- Restricted scar tissue from old injuries
- Mobility or stability gaps up or down the chain
- Returning to load too quickly
- Muscle imbalances from desk work plus training
How we treat it
Care often features Active Release Techniques (A.R.T.) — a soft-tissue method that frees muscles, tendons and nerves from restrictive scar tissue — combined with adjustment to restore joint motion and supportive therapies to manage inflammation.
From there we build a focused rehab and mobility plan so you return to your sport stronger than the injury found you.
What is Active Release Technique (A.R.T.)?
A.R.T. is a hands-on soft-tissue method that breaks up restrictive scar tissue around muscles, tendons, ligaments and nerves caused by repetitive stress and injury. Combined with chiropractic, it helps restore function and reduce tension. Both our chiropractors use it.
Can you help me keep training while I heal?
Often, yes. We aim to keep you as active as your injury safely allows and adjust your training rather than shutting it down entirely whenever that’s appropriate.
How many visits will I need?
It depends on how severe your condition is and how long you've had it. After your exam, the doctor explains exactly what they found and lays out a clear plan — including how many visits to expect — before any treatment begins. Many patients notice meaningful improvement within the first few visits.
Is chiropractic care safe for a sports injury?
For most people, yes. Every new patient starts with a thorough history and exam so we can rule out anything that needs medical attention first. We tailor techniques to your comfort, use gentler approaches when appropriate, and refer you to the right provider if chiropractic isn't the best fit.
Can I get a same-day appointment?
Often, yes. We keep room in the schedule for same-day visits Monday through Friday, 9am–6pm. Call 858-455-7654 and we'll do our best to see you today — or request a time online and we'll confirm by phone.
