Andrea Beck is a board-certified acupuncturist licensed by the State of California’s Acupuncture Board. She earned her Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego, and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from UC San Diego.
Andrea originally took a different path after UCSD, working at a private biotech company and then at the renowned Scripps Research Institute over a ten-year span, where she ran her own research project and contributed to publications in leading scientific journals. A series of events — including her own health challenges and a period of personal growth — led her to discover that she is a healer at heart. That blend of rigorous science and hands-on healing makes her an unusually thoughtful, integrative practitioner.
She completed externships at a seniors’ free clinic specializing in chronic pain and disease, and in the UCSD athletic department focusing on orthopedic conditions. A Certified Massage Therapist as well, she practices Tui Na, Swedish and deep-tissue massage, and specializes in chronic pain, digestive disorders, gynecological issues and orthopedic conditions.
A San Diego native raised in La Mesa, Andrea loves to hike, camp and practice yoga, with a background in belly dancing and martial arts. Her dedication to the art of this ancient medicine shows in her commitment to healing others — and herself.
